Art Of Technology Conference in Lagos, Nigeria

Technology and Innovations are spreading all over the world and specially in Africa, this region is having all the eyes on from all the big tech players, including Twitter CEO, Fb CEO, Alibaba group Chairman, etc. For this, and to support the needs of the young, junior and senior techies in Lagos state in Nigeria, the local government announced the launch of the “Art of Technology — AOT 1.0” conference in Oriental hotel, Lagos. The event took place on the 5th and the 6th of December 2019 in presence of both sectors Public and Private. The Private sector was mainly presented by the Governor of Lagos, his Excellency Babajide Sanwoolu, the comissioner of science and tech Hon. Hakeem Fahm, and his SA Mr. Tubosun Alake, while the Private sector was present in sponsoring this event by many famous and big players including but not limited to, Google, Microsoft, Huawei, IBM, Cisco, etc. We cant omit the presence of many startups and techies enthusiast which presented an important audience in this event.

During this event, the Governor and the Commissioner announced the enrollment plan for installing fibre optics to cover more areas in Lagos state, the vision and plan to create a smart city, the innovation master plan and the fund raising for all startups in Lagos by an amount of 250M Naira.

This event included many workshops, discussions, and debates concerning new ideas and technologies to be used and mainly on how technology can help Lagos state citizens to have a better and easy life by solving their current problems targeting all sectors, Transport, Energy, Health, etc.

Mr. Alake announced during the same conference, the plan to create a technology hub to aggregate and accelerate all people with good ideas and provide the help to direct and develop their ideas in order to reach to an MVP which can be presented to the end users.

At the end of the event, there was a Gala dinner to share a brief on this event and the plans for the next year.

I was very happy to see such development in Lagos state which all African countries should follow and do the same. The machine is being developed in the Eastern countries, we should be careful as humans to be always ahead of it in order to give our children a safe and better life.
